Barclays to close Tower Bridge Road bank branch
Barclays has announced the closure of its Bermondsey bank branch in Tower Bridge Road.
The branch - at the corner of Tower Bridge Road and Grange Road - will close at midday on Wednesday 19 April.
According to Barclays, "96 per cent of people who use our branch have also banked using the app, online and by phone in 2021".
Barclays also claims that there is only one regular customer at the Bermondsey bank who uses the branch as the only way to do their banking.
The firm defines this as "people who’ve only used the cashier service in the branch (12 times or more in the last six months) and didn’t use to do their banking online or telephone banking, our app, or any of our other branches".
The closure of the Bermondsey bank will leave the Borough High Street branch as Barclays' final outlet in SE1.
Barclays has also announced the closure of its Walworth Road branch in SE17.
